Common questions about plant virus testing and our services
Testing & Services
What is qPCR testing?
Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) is a molecular diagnostic technique that amplifies and detects viral DNA or RNA. It's the gold standard for plant virus detection because it's highly sensitive, specific, and can detect viruses before symptoms appear.
How long does testing take?
Cannabis and hemp testing takes up to 8 working days from the day we receive the sample. All other crops take up to 10 working days. Should we encounter any delays, they will be communicated with you in advance.
What crops do you test?
We offer comprehensive testing for the following crops:
Yes, we offer bulk and subscription testing options which are bespoke for each client. Contact us for more details.
Sampling & Shipping
How do I collect samples?
Please follow the sample collection procedure provided with your testing kit. The procedure is different for each plant type, so it is important to follow the correct guide for your crop.
How should I store samples before shipping?
Keep samples cool where possible. They are designed to maintain weeks of shelf life at room temperature and months if cooled. Once you have taken the samples, please despatch them as soon as possible. Do not freeze anything. If you are in a particularly hot area, you may use insulated packaging for shipping.
What if samples arrive damaged or overfilled?
We will contact you immediately if samples are either damaged or overfilled. In the case of damaged samples, we will request resampling. For overfilled samples, we will try to resolve the issue. If we are able to, we will continue with testing; if not, we will request additional samples.
How many plants should I sample?
We recommend testing at least 20% of your crop, though this varies by crop type. For individual plant certification, test each plant. Contact us for guidance specific to your situation.
Results & Reports
How will I receive and interpret my results?
Every report will be sent to you electronically via email or your preferred method. Our team is also available for post-diagnostic consultations via video call. We provide basic interpretation, and over time, as we build a general trend of your data, we can offer more data-driven analysis.
What does a positive virus or bacterial result mean?
A positive result indicates that a virus or bacterial infection was detected in your sample. This doesn't always mean severe disease, as some pathogens have a higher impact than others. We provide recommendations to advise on further testing or alternative scenarios.
Contact us anytime. Post-diagnostic support is included with every test, and we're here to help you understand your results and take the right next steps.

How much does testing cost?
Pricing is dependent on the crop type, the panel selected, and the volume of samples being submitted. Contact us for a quote.
Do you offer discounts for bulk testing?
Yes, we offer volume discounts. Please contact us for pricing.
